Writing Contest, 2009

The Writing Academy is pleased to announce. . .

"A word aptly spoken is like
apples of gold in settings of silver."

--Proverbs 25:11

Deadline Extended until midnight June 30th!

Apples of Gold is the conference theme for the Writing Academy's Writer's Weekend, 2009.

We have all been touched by the power of words--perhaps words in a speech or sermon, words from a teacher or counselor, words from a family member or friend. There are times when someone has had just the right words for us--exactly when we needed to hear them. We have also had times when we felt that God had given us the perfect words for another person.

In either prose or poetry, tell about such a time in your life--when you received "apples of gold" in the words of another--or a time when you had just the right words for someone else.

First, second, and third place winners will receive certificates and keepsake awards.

The Writing Academy's annual writing contest is offered each year for members in loving memory of Marion Fairman, one-time Academy executive director and a writing teacher par excellence. She is remembered as a tough critic of student writing, but her famous red pen helped countless students to become better writers.
