One thing a writer yearns for - I yearn for - is the communal support of other writers: who read, appreciate, criticize one's material; who hold the same aesthetics and standards; who rejoice in the same faith - and who will sharpen one's own critical tooth by allowing response to their material as well. Besides your standards and the constant flow of new thought, new goodness from your summer speakers, this is what I most love and praise about you: that you are community.
